Series Second Life

Second Life explores the rebirth of musical instruments through material transformation. In this series, Villasierra intervenes violins with wood, bronze, gears, acrylic paint, resin, and textured surfaces to reveal a new identity beyond their original function.

The works highlight the tension between craftsmanship and decay, between the instrument’s classical form and its reconstructed, contemporary presence. Each piece becomes a hybrid object — part relic, part sculpture — embodying movement, rhythm, and the silent memory of sound.

Through these interventions, the violin is given a new purpose: a second life where its history, structure, and resonance are visually reimagined.
