Phantom is a series that delves into the spectral presence of musical instruments as silent witnesses of memory and identity. In these works, Villasierra layers wood, paper, acrylic paint, fabric, and resin to create highly textured surfaces where the violin emerges like a ghostly imprint—half revealed, half submerged.
The pieces evoke themes of absence, loss, and resonance, transforming the violin into a symbolic relic that floats between materiality and disappearance. Through dense textures, monochromatic palettes, and sculptural relief, the series explores the tension between what remains and what fades, giving the instrument a haunting second life on canvas.
