Fusión

Fusión is a series that brings together Villasierra’s long-standing exploration of materials by merging crystal and solid bronze into sculptural violins. Created in collaboration with the historic Real Fábrica de Cristales de La Granja, the works are crafted from discarded crystal fragments, recycled bottles, and hand-cast bronze elements such as the fingerboard, pegs, scroll, bridge, and tailpiece.

Each sculpture is produced through a demanding artisanal process that spans mold-making, high-temperature glass casting, annealing, cutting, and polishing. The unpredictable nature of molten crystal—its shifts in color, texture, and structure—transforms every piece into a singular, unrepeatable creation.

Fusión is an ode to imperfection, patience, and the rhythm of time. The series reflects Villasierra’s commitment to giving forgotten materials a second life while embracing the beauty that emerges from unpredictability and transformation.
